Stay Cool This Summer with Peppermint Essential Oil

OK. It is HOT outside. And YES – it does get hot in Minnesota. Sometimes excessively, like today.
So I wanted to discuss how you can use Peppermint essential oil to help you stay cool!

Here are some fun ways to use peppermint essential oil to stay cool!

  • 1-2 drops in your hand and rub in on the back of your neck
  • Apply Peppermint touch rollerball to the back of your neck
  • Create a refreshing body spray with 2-5 drops off peppermint oil, 1 tlbs of witch hazel & water to a 4 oz spray bottle
  • Use a drop of Peppermint with Lemon in water for an internal cool

Most people relate peppermint to winter. Not me – when I smell it I just get a kick of refreshment. Just like walking through the grocery store and then you hit the frozen food section and all the doors are open. AHHHHH!

Besides helping you cool off, there are so many ways peppermint can benefit you.

  • Promotes healthy respiratory function and clear breathing
  • Promotes digestive health
  • Peppermint also helps alleviate occasional stomach upset and promotes healthy respiratory function.
  • Repels bugs naturally
  • Place one drop in palm of hand with one drop Wild Orange and one drop Frankincense and inhale for a mid-day pick-me-up.
(Maybe it is the boost you need to go get that laundry done).

Caprese Salad Skewers with Lemon-Basil Vinaigrette Drizzle

These Caprese Skewers with Lemon-Basil Vinaigrette Drizzle are the perfect bite-size appetizer for your parties. Enjoy this healthy stick of freshness in the summertime, or all year round!

If you are like me, you are sick of going to parties where all they are serving is Buffalo Chicken Dip, Pickle Rollups, Chicken Wings and dips so fatty that you can actually feel your pants becoming too tight while you are wearing them.

Well, here is a healthy option that your guests will absolutely love! These Caprese Skewers with Lemon-Basil Vinaigrette Dressing will leave them wanting more and asking for the recipe!

Bright red juicy tomatoes, skewered with milky mini mozzarella cheese balls and fresh, springy basil leaves, drizzled with tangy-sweet lemon-basil vinaigrette drizzle. O.M.G.

Each layer has its own bold and refreshing flavor that even your favorite carnivore will love them!  (Except mine because he hates tomatoes.)

Better yet – No cooking! They are super simple to make! And take about 15 minutes to prepare!

And because the dressing is made with essential oils, you get an extra benefit!

Lemon:

  • Naturally cleanses the body and aids in digestion.
  • Supports healthy respiratory function.
  • Take internally to assist with seasonal respiratory discomfort.
  • Cleanses and purifies the air and surfaces. So wipe up any mess you create while making these treats with a little Lemon oil added to a spray bottle of water to clean tables, counter tops, and other surfaces.
  • Diffuse to promote a positive mood.
  • Wash hands with Lemon oil to remove grease after changing your oil.

Basil:

  • Mist a little Basil and water on your face to help keep you cool while prepping for your party.
  • Diffuse to promote alertness and lessen anxious feelings.
  • Massage with Wintergreen and carrier oil on back of neck for a stress-relieving experience.
  • May help to ease monthly feminine discomfort during menstrual cycle.
  • Diffuse for feeling of relief at the end of your party and promote a sense of focus while you clean up. (Blends with Lime, Bergamot and/or Peppermint for an invigorating aroma.)

Are you ready to make these for your next party?

DIY Bedtime Linen Spray

Getting a good night sleep can significantly improve your health. It is actually at the core for your body to help resist environmental threats, weight management, easing stress and overall general wellness. If you are looking to aid your sleep, this DIY Bedtime Linen Spray may be the answer.

My toddler is currently going through the toddler tantrums, which winds him up at night. We currently diffuse essential oils in his room at night, but because he recently started sleeping with a pillow, I thought I would create this linen spray to help promote calmness and rest.

DIY Bedtime Linen Spray

Makes 4 ounces

Materials
1 ounce (2 tablespoons) witch hazel or vodka
5 drops Calming blend (or you can substitute lavender essential oil)
5 drops Reassuring blend (or you can substitute Vetiver or Ylang Ylang essential oil)
3 ounces (6 tablespoons) water

Directions
  • Add the witch hazel to the spray bottle.
  • Add the essential oils to the spray bottle.
  • Place the lid on the bottle and shake for about 30 seconds to mix the two. This ensures the oil is distributed nicely because if added to the water it won’t mix together.
  • Open the lid and add the water. Then replace the lid and shake for 30 seconds to mix.
  • Spray on your sheets, pillows, blankets and stuffed animals. Sleep well.
